Exploring the Small Farm Dream

Success Stories

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFA NJ) was the first organization besides NESFI to deliver the Exploring the Small Farm Dream course. NOFA NJ experimented with two new ideas for delivering the course.

• Farm Tours. NOFA NJ took their students on tours of local farms on a Saturday between course evenings. It was such a success that they have decided to do it every year, and hope soon to be able to host every session of the course at a local educational farm.

• Collaborating with a Community College. NOFA NJ teamed up with Mercer County Community College (MCCC) to offer the course. MCCC handled the organization details and did promotion through their course catalog. The course was very popular and NOFA NJ and MCCC will be teaming up to offer it again in spring 2004.
